Iraqis March In Baghdad To Protest Security Pact

The New York Times reports that, "Followers of the anti-American cleric Moktada al-Sadr Enhanced Coverage Linking Moktada al-Sadr took to the streets on [October 18] in a demonstration against the proposed security agreement between the American and Iraqi government being reviewed by Iraqi political leaders". They see it as an invasion, and are not letting their sovereignty be put on the chopping block. Their slogan was, "No invasion, get out invaders!" Some leaders were still unsure about the agreement even though they helped write it. The only support of the agreement came from the Kurds. Everyone else was still on edge. They believe that it will be several more days of looking into the positive and the negative aspects before a final decision will be made. The protesting group wants Iraq to be the ones to make the decision not the fact of being pressured into making the decision. There is still the struggle of who would be in control and who's laws to follow. I personally think that this is a huge step for the developing nation, and once this can be passed it will be a positive effect for the rest of the years of the nation. This is a crucial step and a test for the Iraqi government.

Yes!...I hope that the Iraqui government will continue to re-establish its country because they have been under tyranny for so long.
