Alison Des Fores died in the plane crash in Buffalo, New York which killed 49 others as well. She was a expert in the Rwandan genocide and she was very well respected. Her title in Africa was senior adviser for Human Rights Watch's Africa Division and she was in that position for almost two decades. Not only was she an activist she also went infront of the U.N and the congressional planes to testify about the atrocity and the actions being taken in Central Africa. She also had an award winning book called, Leave None to Tell the Story. To the people who knew her they believed that she was an amazing person for doing what she has done for the people of Rawanda. She was one of the first people to see the actions that were going on in the genocide and she was the first person to be there to try and save everyone she could and keep this from happening. Due to the legal system of Rwanda Des Fores was banned from there about a year ago.

I think that this is awful that this happened to her, and to all the other people that were on that flight. She seems like an incredible women, and she has accomplished so much in her life. She has done so much for others that much needs to be done for her. Rwanda owes a lot to this women for all the courageous things she has done.

It's incredibly unfortunate that the world had lost one of its leading fighters for good in this war-ravaged region that has already seen so much tragedy and death. This is a massive blow to the struggle for stability and human rights in Rwanda; indeed, for the African continent in general. Des Fores' courageous actions and admirable beliefs will be sorely missed. Hopefully this tragedy will act as a force to even further galvanize people to join the fight against the evils being perpetrated in Rwanda and all over the globe.
