The general aim of using biofuels focuses on reducing the amount of greenhouse gases released into our atmosphere. Now scientists have found that some types of Ethanol based fuels, mainly grown in the US, are more dangerous than using the petroleum and diesel products everywhere today.
For the ethanol system to be created maintained other systems are negatively affected. It all matters on how the product is produced. Ethanol requires land to grow in and in that process deforestation has occurred in many countries. Biofuels in the United Kingdom have slowed due to advising by climate staff to find a more secure and definite way to safely power the world’s transportation systems. One study by the EPA done on discovering the costs of diesel in comparison to biofuels show that ethanol based fuel is 1 to 70 cents more than diesel. This depends on the manner of how the ethanol is made.
These bio fuels, manufactured to create less damage to the planet are doing the exact opposite. To create an efficient fuel all areas that can be affected by the project must be analyzed thoroughly or we will be taken one step forward and two back as the saying goes. Newer fuels are being analyzed that utilize products that do not effect or compete with anything. Corn for example is also used greatly in the many products that use it as an ingredient, besides corn on its own. Newer fuels under development are seen as a plant with high amounts of cellulose, a woodier product that is simple to maintain and grow under any conditions. It seems as if this magical product is just a glimmer in the future, but miracles do happen.

I was glad to see this article because I've questioned the "perfect solution" attitude towards biofuels. While commercials would have one believe that biofuels and ethanol are the cure to the gas addiction, I have also read conflicting reports - especially in the case of ethanol. While ethanol would burn more cleanly, it also takes oil to produce it, essentially using oil to create a less efficient fuel. It seems to me that can't be the best solution.
I agree with the fact that they do need to find a new way to create energy and everything, but the use of the bio fuels is deffinatly not a good thing because it is hurting the earth and atmosphere much more then helping.
