As of now, 36 families are going to be sent back to the Philippines from Israel. They say that the guidelines on becoming a resident were too easy and relaxed. Most of the children have one or both of their parents that are illegal in the country. The interior minister of the country was very flexible in the cases of the families. He was flexible on the status of the parents and also lowered the age requirement for the children to obtain residency. Some of the families have been here before the children were even born. One family with a n eleven year old son is going to be sent back because his mom is illegal. He has lived in Israel his whole life. His family is filing an appeal through the court system, which will also make the fate of the other families.
I feel that this situation is awful. Although the families have one or both parents that are illegal in the country, it is wrong to just ship them back to the Philippines. For most of the children, Israel is the only place they have known. I think sending them away will do great harm to their development. The culture shock of moving away from their home could do a lot more harm then they are doing to the country of Israel. I do not think the families should suffer for what a minister has done.

I agree, the mental health and the development of the children should take priority in this situation rather than Israel's current immigration laws.
