On Monday, February 9, Israel's military launched strikes against several targets in Gaza. This latest string of air attacks was in retaliation to the recent firing of rockets by Palestinians into Iraeli territory. According to the Israel Defense Force, two Hamas outpost in Gaza were the targets of the air strikes. Just one day earlier, Palestinian forces fired two rockets into Israel. In January, Israel and Hamas signed separate cease-fires after weeks and weeks of fighting. However, there have been over 30 rockets, mortars, and Grads fired since the agreements.
The continued violence in Israel and the Gaza strip just makes me wonder when this fued is going to escalate into a full blown war. I know that Israel and Hamas have been at odds for a very, very long time, but it seems the violence has slowly begun to worsen over the past several years. Even thought the violence is half way across the world, it still affects everyone in every country. Each country is interdependent on others; we are all connected in some way. So, this violence has the potential to wreak havoc not only in Israel and Palestine, but also in all other parts of the world.

Both countries need to realize that bombs and rockets won't ever solve their problems. It going to be a slow and laborious process, but the leaders from both countries need to sit down and discuss the issue at hand, and both need to realize that equal compromise is the only solution to this age old problem.
