For many years people from Mexico have been immigrating to the US because there was not enough jobs in Mexico. In the 60’s, Mexican families would have around seven children, sometimes more. Over eleven million Mexicans have immigrated since 1970. Now the government has stricter laws and birth control campaigns to reduce the number of people per family. Now as the growth of Mexico slows, the number of immigrants has been reducing. Tighter policies and economic hardships have sent Mexicans back to Mexico, and added to why less people come over to the US. The US is also adding a 670 mile long fence across the border to try to prevent more immigration. Also in many cities the campaigns offer advice of keeping families small, and the health clinics pass out condoms and birth control to try to help. They want their people to stay. The problem though is that minimum wage is less than 4 dollars, and the amount of jobs are just not there. The people need jobs either way, and not being able to find anything does not help the urge to immigrate. For some cities, the ultimate goal of a teenager is to leave as soon as they can. They do not even think about getting a job in Mexico.
This is a topic I always wonder about. I wonder if all the immigrants really do hurt our economy as much as they think it does. IF all of the immigrants left back to Mexico, and other countries, what would our country be like now? I think it is a good idea to have good measures for this situation, especially for illegal immigrants, but I also think it is a little harsh, like putting up a 670 mile long fence. I wonder when too much is too much. In a way I feel bad for the families because sometimes their only hope is to move to the US so they can actually have a decent life.

I was very suprised when I read that there exists birth control in Mexico-I just knew that this is the way they do in China.
In my opinion one should try to solve the problem at the root: not in trying to prevent immigration, but to ask Why do they leave the country? How could we change that?
If the problems are solved within th country, I don't think that anyone needs a fence anymore.
