A recent report from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in Britain predicts that with the current rates of greenhouse gas emissions, global temperatures will rise two degrees centigrade. This will cause the melting of the ice caps,” sparking unprecedented flooding heat waves” which will be virtually impossible to be reversed. These changes in temperature are expected to occur by the year 2050, and the temperature has already risen .7 degrees since before the industrial revolution. The scientists use the 1.9 percent increase in yearly emissions to come up with these results and they said that little can be done to help slow down the process.
I believe this is a huge wake up call for humanity, many people don’t believe in Global warming and most that do believe in it or have heard about it ignore it because they assume that it will not affect them directly, since its been said that it will take thousands of years. In reality great changes are going to be felt in the climate by the year 2050, where most of us are still going to be alive so we will suffer the consequences. The studies show that by “the first decade of the 22nd century, atmospheric carbon dioxide would be four times the pre-industrial level”. This tells us that we, humans, indeed have a great impact in the climate change, and that we need to do anything that is in our power to help ease the repercussions of our actions. The world has to get together to make radical changes before its too late.

This temperature change shows how big of an impact we have on our environment. We have made huge changes to how much pollution we are making compared to ten years prior. I guess our generation will see these effects.
