"Wounded Sri Lankans describe chaos in the North."

The Tamil Tigers in Sri Lankan (it's a large island off of the sourthern coast of India) opened fire on a group of fleeing citizens that had been trapped in the rebels’ held territory. The Tamil Tiger's have been trying to make a seperate independant country for themselves. The citizens that were fired on were trying to seek refuge in the government’s held land. They were trapped and starving where they were so they decided to seek help. As they ran toward the border line, several witnesses say that the Tamil Tiger’s began firing at their backs. The Tigers' claim it wasn’t them but the government that shot at them, saying that the goverment was trying to create a "killing ground" in what was suppose to be a no-kill zone. The goverment, represented by the Military spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara, refuted the statement saying that "There is no reason for us to kill civilians. We were not even aware that the civilians had been shot at until they came to us."
The fighting in Sri Lankan has been going for 25 years. There are estimates of there being about 70,000 people killed so far, with Wednesday’s death toll not included. Some 20,000 people are said to still be trapped inside the Tamil Tiger’s held territory. The makeshift hospital where the victims were taken had been suffering fire for days and many more patients are dying from lack of food water and medicine.
How long does a war have to go on before something gives? 25 years of death and it doesn’t even bother some. It’s horrible, and then they begin killing the injured because, what they are receiving help so they won’t die? It makes me want to rattle a few heads together. It's great to fight for want you believe in, but this is too much. This is just an excuse to be a murder.
