Zimbabwe Children Suffer as Schools Stay Closed

In Zimbabwe children cant go to school because the teachers can not afford to get there to teach. Just recently I did an article on outraged college students in Zimbabwe and I thought that I would follow that story which led me here. The currency was changed and many people were being paid and held accounts hold “useless” money. The teachers were merely being paid 4 dollars for their hard work and could not afford to provide for their families and be able to get to work.
Many of the families that send their children to school are poverty stricken and simply cannot afford to not send their children to school. The article plainly states how some of these children only receive a good mean once a day at school and as of now those children our receiving nothing, and possibly beans. The people of Zimbabwe are severely malnourished and 1 and 10 students will die of aids. The Country is in serious need of health care and is currently suffering very harsh conditions being placed by cruel government.
The Zimbabwe government is diminishing the once growing education program. When Mugabe became the nations leader in 1980 the number of students that attended schools tripled and now it is rapidly decreasing. I think that this is so sad and there should be more efforts to help this nation get out of its slum.

I thought this article was quite sad. It seems that there is a shortage of quality teaching positions (that pay enough to encourage staying) all over. It is unfortunate that the students must suffer a lack of education because of lack of teachers. Hopefully the country will gain some insight into the long term consequences of an undereducated generation.
