Fake $28 Million

Peruvian police arrested five suspects who allegedly were planning to print up to $28 million in counterfeit United States $100 bills. The counterfeiters were using two printing presses in Peru’s capital to produce the fake money according to Interior Minister Mercedes Cabanillas. The presses were raided on Thursday by police when they discovered illegitimate bills at the scene. Authorities did not say how many bills were found. Cabanillas stated that $28 million could have been printed in counterfeit bills if the suspects were not caught.

It is crazy to think something like this could actually happen. You never hear about stories like this happening and people getting away with it. You would think that people would understand they are going to get caught and not going to get away with it. Instead of going out and making real money, these people would rather just try to make fake money. Typically when we think of crime, we think of violent acts rather than counterfeit, but it is just as much of a crime.
