US flag-burning marks war anniversary

American flags were set on fire Friday in Baghdad. During the flag burning, chants of "no, no for occupation" were heard from followers of an anti-U.S. Shiites. This marks the sixth anniversary of the Iraq war. In five other cities supporters of cleric Muqtada al-Sadr marched or protested to demand the release of their detainees that are being kept in United States run prisons. Six people, including a police officer were killed by a suicide bomber protestor in Fallujah. This attack was on the home of the local leader of Sunni security volunteers who turned against al-Qaida. Also, a pair of roadside bombs exploded within 10 minutes of one another Friday. These bombings wounded four policemen and three civilians in Baghdad's Karradah district. A police colonel and his aide were wounded in a bombing Friday in Saddam Hussein's hometown of Tikrit, police said. Baghdad fell to U.S. forces on April 9, 2003. The war began with a missile and bombing attack on south Baghdad before dawn on March 20, 2003. The demonstrators chanted, "No, no for occupation. Yes, yes for liberation. Yes, yes for Iraq." Two American flags were set on fire during this single demonstration during the chants. All across Iraq many suicide bombers targeted important positions and people. At least 4,260 American service members have died in Iraq since the war started, according to an Associated Press count.

This issue is double sided for me. I can understand how they want our people out of their country. On the other hand you would think they would welcome our help and be glad we have put forth so much support. The fact is that these people have set ways and ideals that will not be changed. We are trying to guide them to a better future but it is just going to take time. Some Iraqis love out presence but only the bad things and stories are reported back home in the United States. I would like to see the people praising our troops for liberating their country also. I know many people who are in Iraq right now who have stated this multiple times. Why does out media have to be so negative??? Maybe if the media would do equal reporting of both sides out attitude towards the war would be a little different!

Randy, you're just plain wrong. We are destroying that place and molding it into a source of oil. What makes you think that the Bush administration gives (gave I should say) a shit about the people of that country. Open your eyes, man. I hate reading your blogs, I don't know why I do it. READ.
