China's Birth Limits

For a long time now China has had a child limit per family to help keep their growing population low. The problem with this is that the families abort female children because they need a male to keep the family going and also help provide income. There are 32 million more boys than girls right now in china. Researchers say that this will only get worse over the years and will cause an increase in crime and also men not being able to find a wife. They say with all the testosterone put together, the levels may cause all the men to go out and commit crimes, especially together. The birth rate is 12 more boys per girls compared to other industrialized nations. China does have a ban on tests being done for non- medical reasons to see the gender, but many practitioners will still do it. Other researchers say that selective abortions along with things such as not reporting girl births, abandonment of them or even infanticide contribute to the disparity in gender ratios. Many believe that enforcing the ban on sex-selective abortions could help lower the disparity.
I have always heard about the laws in China for their population and how the families always wanted boys, but I never thought that the gender ratio was that big of a gap. I cannot believe there is that many boys compared to girls. In a way I cant believe the country would let it get like that, when they would to have known there was a huge gap growing because of the laws and the want for boys. If something doesn’t change soon, the population of China could be extremely distorted, and also stop many family line due to the excess of males and not enough females. Hopefully something will change, more education, and a change to laws, will help the population out. Yes they are trying to control the massive growth but what has occurred is actually no better.
