This article shows an attempt that president Obama has recently made to try to bridge the gap and ease the tension between Muslims and Americans. His message was that we need to try to understand that not Muslims believe in jihad and that it is only a small percentage of radicals. However, it has been shown in polls that about half Americans think negatively when thinking of Muslims and many of these people are uniformed concerning the Muslim faith and don’t know anyone of the faith itself. Obama is calling for these Muslims to come forward and share the basic ideas and concepts of their faith so that Americans can better understand where they are coming from.
I agree with Obama’s goal and reasoning, We as Americans don’t completely understand the whole concept of Islam and I believe that if we better understood it we would be less judgmental and stereotypical of people who appear to be Muslim.

I don't know if anyone has been following what happened when Obama met with the Saudi king and bowed. It's sparked a renewal in "omg!! Obama is a Muslim!" That said I doubt the ignorant people focused on something so trivial will be capable of listening and learning about Muslim beliefs. Hopefully there will be support from the rest of the nation though..
His attempt at information sharing is a good sign for the rest of the world though. More often than not it is the things that we don't understand that we fear the most. I definitely agree with Obama's approach to things, only by understanding one another can we accept the things that are different and realize that we aren't all that dissimilar.
Obama is doing a great thing by helping the world better understand the muslim religion. It makes me so angry when people judge other people and think that in their religion its ok to go and do terrible acts and its not.
