U.S. signals new era for global economy
A few days ago in London, the economic summit met to discuss global issues. The night before this meeting President Obama announced a warning for one of our American leaders. He stated “The voracious U.S. economy can no longer be the sole engine of global growth.” He basically wants the U.S. to be involved in the new economic era but he doesn’t want to be leading the way out of the crisis situation. He also said “I came here to listen, not to lecture.” He believes that the rest of the world is depending on the U.S. to get everyone out of this slump. The truth is that has happened in the past, but back then we were capable enough to do that stably. Right now we are not even capable of doing that. He had a news conference with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and they discussed the issues. Obama said the issues are something we all need to deal with individually or we all need to participate equally, so other countries need to pick up the pace. Mostly he blamed other countries for this crisis but he overlooked the problems that Washington and Wall Street have got us in.
In my opinion Obama needs to stop trying to blame everyone else for a problem that the U.S. helped create. I believe that all countries should take equal part in pulling us back together and that includes the United States. We will have to work together to make this happen. The only thing that I agree with him on is when he said the U.S. can’t pull the weight for everyone else. I think he’s being ignorant when he said that he doesn’t want to be involved in lectures that he just wants to listen. He needs to lecture, everyone needs to tell how their country is being affected and they need to come up with a plan together as a team to work through this situation.
