Once again the Somali pirates have hijacked another ship, this time an American ship. The pirates are still holding the captain hostage while the rest of he crew had overpowered some of the other pirates. The captain surrendered himself to save the rest of his crew and was adrift on a lifeboat Thursday, off the Horn of Africa. A U.S. destroyer surrounded the lifeboat with more warships on the way. The U.S. has also brought in FBI hostage negotiators to work alongside the military in trying to secure the release of the Captain. As of now the pirates are said to be holding talks of a peaceful resolution. The captain was able to send a radio message to the U.S. forces that he was unharmed to this point.
I feel that hopefully since a U.S. ship has been captured that maybe this will cause more focus to be put into stopping these Somali pirates. I have posted about this several times and it continues to be an ongoing problem. Hopefully the U.S. forces will see the threat and start to take action after this issues in resolved.
