Rob Spence who only has one eye is working on placing a small camera into where his eye used to be. He said in able to do this, he has spend a lot of time and money but it has been well worth it. He has a prototype ready but is not ready for frequent, everyday use. The article states that this is the latest example of human and machine becoming one. Rob Spence also states that he loves technology and with how fast technology advances, people who are deaf should be able to hear and blind people should be able see in no time. Even though this machine is very advanced it still won’t be able to help people who are blind to have perfect vision.
Dr. Miguel Nicolelis says that there scientists working very hard to have brain-powered limbs to help the disabled. They have worked on them with monkeys and they have shown to work. They are also working with people with spinal cord injuries so they can have hope of walking again one day.
I think what these doctors are doing and other doctors like them are doing great things. We already use technology everyday from computers to music equipment, we should put technology to helping someone walk again and being able to hear again. If I couldn’t walk I would definitely take a procedure with computer software tapped into my brain so I could possibly walk again. Technology doesn’t need to be used for us just to have fun, it should also be used to improve people’s daily lives.
