This article basically outlines and explains why the government is trying to get the European Union to uphold the human rights conditions they put forth in the EU-Israel Association Agreement. Clare Short and the European Campaign to End the Siege of Gaza have launched this because they say that the treaty is being breached. This letter was sent to President which stated all of the problems and all of the ways things can be improved. The commission has been given 28 days to reply because the case is basically about how the EU has been failing to meet the obligations of the human rights activist. It’s argued that ‘Palestinian, Israeli and International Human Rights organizations have said in many reports that Israel’s actions in Operation Cast Lead intentionally violated international humanitarian law and human rights laws. The rest of the letter goes on to say how Israel is in breach of many other Articles and how un-happy people are with that.
This article made me think about how these people are being treated and how unfair the system is in other countries. For the government to not even want to take the time and abide by human rights laws makes me question the effectiveness of their leadership and power. When I read the reactions and quotes from some of the people campaigning for the laws to be abided by it made me actually want to research and dig deeper into the problems of what was going on. Clare Short said that “only way to peace is to require Israel to comply with international law and that this is in the interests of all parties.” I completely agree with this statement. Peace is really the way to ensure that a nation and its people are able to live. Once you have no peace then all chaos breaks loose. Overall I thought this article was good and very thought provoking.

Do you know what President Obama said about it?
Jarrod, I completley agree with you. These people are being mistreated and I also agree that peace is the the most important thing for all parties involved.
