This article discusses the issue of Maternal Mortality in Africa. It talks about the facts of women living in Africa and what is expected of them. There is even a thirteen year old girl who was married off to help her family and got pregnant immediatley to prove her ferility. Once again a hug issue is education and contraception. On the brightside however, there is a large movement of women pressing their policy-makers in hopes of lowering that rate.
I was really surprised by this article. I never really heard much about maternal mortality, usually we hear about infant mortality. The news never really focuses on the problems women face in childbirth. Not to mention I havent heard much about genital mutilation in quite some time.
