The Department of Health is beginning the distribution of morphine to the Philippine General Hospital for use in the pain management and palliative care of indigent patients. The success of the cancer pain management center relies all on the availability of the medicine and pain relievers that can be given to the patients. Every day there are more than 200,000 Filipinos suffer from pain daily. DoH program manager for dangerous drugs abuse, prevention and treatment, said half of the P10 million morphine supplies would be distributed over the next two months to care for 810 patients and their biggest concern is how the medicine would be distributed without misuse of the drug.
I think that the Department of Health is doing a great thing. With a lot of people suffering from cancer and pain, the shipment and distribution of morphine is a a wonderful thing. Like the article said over 200,000 people every day suffer from the pain. My only bad thought about this is the people who will try and say that they are feeling more pain than they really are and all they want is the drugs. Morphine is a powerful drug and I don't think people should misuse it especially if there are people that actually need it.
