Matthew Ellis. Yemeni girl, 12, dies in painful childbirth

A 12-year-old Yemeni girl named Fawziya Ammodi was forced into a forced marriage died during a painful childbirth that also killed her baby. The young Yemeni girl struggled for three days in labor, before dying of severe bleeding at a hospital said an expert. Ammodi was forced to drop out of school to get married to the 24 year old man. The 12 year old girl was born into a poor home in Hodeidah. The reason to why Fawziya was married off at such an early age is not known at this time. Marriage usually means that the girl is not a financial burden anymore and a written promise to made to conssumate the marriage.

I think that this is horrible. The only way that I can see this as somewhat acceptable is that it is not our culture. In Yemeni, the economy is worse off and I can see why this young girl was married off at a young age, but I don't think that she should have to put up with the consummation of the marriage. There should have been a written promise in the marriage like normally. The deeper matter is that the young girl died during child birth and she endured three long days of labor.

OMG! that is so sad to hear about. What would a 24 year old grown man want with a little child! that is so outrageous and i am so sorry that she had to go through that and that she died.
