Summary:
The H1N1 virus started the first pandemic in four decades. The virus started in the Southern Hemisphere which led the North to observe and plan a fast-track vaccine production. Since winter is now south of the Equator, experts have started to observe the signs of what the virus might have in store for the North in the fall and winter of 2009-2010. Even though the flu viruses can be unpredictable, the experts believe that the H1N1 virus has carved a path and continues to stay close to it. There are many emerging infectious disease programs run by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control which are located in Thailand, Kenya, Guatemala, and Bangladesh. Therefore they are able to view that path of the H1N1 virus has been consistent and predictable across those countries. At the World Health Organization, Influenza experts have been focusing to assess the pandemic virus’s behavior by observing the experiences that New Zealand, Argentina, Australia, Chile, and South Africa each have faced. By being able to view how other countries react to the H1N1 virus, the experts will be able to see how the virus will take its course in the Northern Hemisphere.
Reaction:
Since the Northern countries can watch how the H1N1 virus develops in the Southern Hemisphere, I feel that the experts can gain a better understanding of how this virus will affect the North. I believe that if the experts take extra steps in seeing if the virus stays to the same path, then they will be able to gain better insight about how the virus can affect others in the different seasons. Also they will be able to come up with a vaccine that will help cure the people who are affected by the virus. Being able to track and observe the different behaviors that the virus has on people in different countries, will also help the experts to be able to observe the different symptoms of the virus. Therefore the experts will hopefully be able to stop the pandemic of the H1N1 virus.

Its getting closer to the date in which the government will roll out the first faze of swine flu vaccinations. Many people seem to have concerns over the safety of the vaccine, will you have a swine flu vaccine if offered?
You can vote here Swine Flu Vaccine
I am not sure if I will have a swine flue vaccine. I have never had a flu shot. It just depends if there is a bad outbreak of the virus.
