Northern pollution impacts Australia

Scientists have come to realize that changes in the climate of the Southern Hemisphere is being caused by parts of the Northern Hemisphere—including Asia, Europe and North America. Researchers in Australia used a climate model that showed the presence and effects of aerosols. Aerosol is a cloud of solid or liquid particles in a gas and is produced primarily in North America. It has been said that aerosols can cause both atmospheric and oceanic changes in the Southern Hemisphere. After studying their model results, scientists have come to the conclusion that human-generated aerosols from the Northern Hemisphere is the cause of an increase in rainfall in northwestern and central Australia, while causing a decrease in rainfall in southern Australia.

I have always known that pollution has been a major problem, whether it’s in the United States or in different countries all throughout the world. However, I never knew how much of a dramatic impact that one country could have on the amounts of pollution in surrounding countries. Just to know that North America is responsible for most of the pollution affecting these areas really saddens me. For as long as I can remember, I have heard and seen how bad pollution is, however I’m not quite sure how much progress is really being made towards lowering it. I definitely hope that the numbers will be on the decrease soon, because not only are we being affected, but we are affecting innocent people in other countries as well. It’s just not fair.

I have to agree, this is really sad. Its almost embarassing that North America's pollution is that bad, especially on a beautiful country like Australia. I really enjoyed reading this article, I found it very educating as well as being well-written.
