An air strike that killed dozens of civilians displaced by fighting between the government and Al Houthi rebels in and around Saada city has caught the attention of the U.N. human rights chief. Rupert Colville wants to launch an investigation into what is going on so that future attacks will not occur. Colville also said that High Commissioner Pillay is also very concerned that aid workers have limited access to the thousands of people trapped by this conflict. She says civilians are being deprived of much needed food, water, and medication. Many people didn’t realize that this was going on and they think its alarming what is going on. Colville also noted that this was the second deadly air strike resulting in civilian death in the past three days. "We see this as a deeply disturbing development in a conflict that was always very troubling in terms of its impact on civilians," Colville said. "The high commissioner is reminding the government of Yemen and the armed forces of Yemen of their obligation to protect civilians caught up in fighting and to uphold international human rights and humanitarian law."
This is a crazy situation to me, like I can’t imagine what I would do if somebody just started an air strike like that in this country. It seems like most of the victims are people that aren’t exactly in the best economical situation so this means it would be harder for them to recover. I feel that this situation needs to be resolved quickly before more people get hurt. Obviously the government needs to step in and see that work is being done in order for these people to become stable again.
