African women are being hugely affected by the growing climate change due to global warming. In Africa women attribute to 80 percent of food production industry. With these climate changes their ability to make an income to support themselves and their families is becoming harder and harder to acheive. Now women and girls are having to walk farther and farther to collect water and firewood that is needed which takes time away from economic activities and education. There has been an extremely high rise in the number of young girls dropping out of school to hlep theire struggling mothers to support the family.
Recently human rights workers and senior governmental officials have been meeting in Togo, to try and understand how this problem is affecting these women so badly and what they can do to solve it. However it has been hard for all of the 89 participants to figure out a single main objective on solving the issue. One issue that has remained concrete is that these countries that are being highly affected by global warming and these climate changes is that they want industrialized nations to limit global warming to two degrees Celsius and cut emissions from 25 - 40 percent by 2020.
I think it is so interesting how much the world depends on women. Story after story we see how women hold down the world and keep everything stabalized. I cant get over the fact that Something like global warming is having such an alarming and direct affect on women and young girls. Its so sad that the girls are usually the first ones to give up their education in a family crisis, it is so much pressure placed upon them. I like that someone is actually noticing the problem and are trying to step in and make it better. However i do not think that this problem will get solved anytime sooon for the simple fact that the industrialized countries (like the UNITED STATES) are not going to change their ways to help any one else besides themselves. Hopefully the United Nations can find some legislation that will help to solve this problem because it is not fair to the women or the environment.

I agree with your viewpoint on how much depends on women, it saddens me that the women of Africa have to suffer, and hopefully efforts to improve the situation will remain.

It is definitely unfortunate that global warming is affecting African women on this large of a scale. Many people may look at the issue as not important as of today, maybe for the future but as we can see the affects are already taken a toll on women in Africa. It is also unfortunate that women incomes are being affected and many young girls are having to choose livelihood over their education. Hopefully with people brainstorming about the issue, something will begin to happen on the benefit of the women being affected because what affects one will eventually affect all.
I agree that a large portion of things depend on women. It amazes me that global warming is haveing these very different affects on women. It is also sad that some are having to give up education because of this problem.
