Eight companies suspended from production for air pollution

According to an article from VietNamNet Bridge, Binh Chanh district (a suburban district in Vietnam) forced eight factories in Le Minh Xuan Industrial Park to stop their production practices. This suspension was due to the production of harmful industrial smoke, which was polluting the surrounding areas. Some of the things that these plants were suspended from producing include mechanical products, chemicals, waxing cloth, plating iron products and textile. The only way that these factories will be able to reopen and resume production is if they build proper systems for treating toxic industrial smoke. The district states that they will continue inspections and apply strong measures over the air polluters. However, many of the industrial parks have yet to build facilities to treat the industrial smoke.

I found this article to be very reassuring. Most of the pollution articles I read talk about the many pollution problems factories are causing, but I seldomly read about a solution to the problem. And if there is believed to be a solution, no one was taking quick action to get the problem resolved. I think it’s a great idea that these companies were suspended. Many people are being harmed by their air toxins, and if these measures aren’t taken, the situation will only get worse. I just wish that other places around the world would see pollution as being a very serious issue and take the time to try to resolve the matter. It seems that the suspension could potentially work, and other areas should try it in order to keep everyone around the factories safe from pollutants.
