Tamil citizens have finally been relocated and resettled after ethnic conflict that occurred in Sri Lanka. After a military conflict that ended a prolonged civil war that was decades old. Totaling 2,500 people were involved in the resettlement which moved them from Vavuniya to their native lands in Jaffna. Resettlement was controlled by the Task Force which was instructed by Sri Lanka’s president Mahinda Rajapaksa. Civilians will be transported daily until they have reached their destination of Jaffna. Also, people from the district of Mannar were relocated. Along with the resettlement plans, the government has made plans to improve the country’s electricity.
Many countries that have dealt with ethnic battles have resulted to relocation of civilians caught up in the countries turmoil. If the country is fine with the resettlement and the people are happy then resettlement is fine. When the people are moved to a place where there is more conflict and leads to more problems, that is when resettlement turns to problems. The civilians were being moved to their native lands, after many years so the end result turned out fine. It’s astonishing that so many people could be relocated because of war, giving up your home and move to a new region seems so unfair when the country’s problems may not be their own. Fortunately the civilians are able to go back to where they want to be, and hopefully the problems of the country will be resolved and they will remain at peace.
