Majority of Babies Will Live To 100

This article is about the fact that life expectancy is rising. Rising life expectancy means more of us will live not only longer but better through our senior years. Most babies born in the United States and Western Europe today are expected to live to 100 if we continue on the same trend of increased life expectancy. Data from more than 30 developed countries show that death rates are dropping among people over 80 and three quarters of babies born in these nations over the past decade can expect to live to 75. It is hypothesized that we can live longer by extending our working lives and shortening our work weeks. A recent British study shows that you can cut your risk of having a stroke in half by being active for 30 minutes a day, eating five daily servings of fruit and vegetables, and avoiding cigarettes and excess alcohol. Science has revealed that centenarians tend to share certain traits in how they eat, move about, and deal with stress.

I think this article is amazing. I think it's cool that people have the potential to live longer lives. The article talked about how we praise individuals who reach the 100 year mark because it is such a privilege, however now it may be the norm. I only wonder if there is going to be a population problem. If people aren't dying, are we going to overpopulate? Also that would mean our population would be old, as in an abundance of elderly. This might be a negative aspect to living longer lives.

We're going to see a lot of problems globally as life expectancy rises but birth control methods are still uncommon. We'll see all kinds of other issues as well, such as increased chronic and long term diseases. I'm not sure which is the better trade-off personally, but I'm glad to know that science and medical technology are doing good in the world.
