The article I read about is about women trafficking. The woman in the article was promised that she would have a cleaning job, but when she got to the inner city of Dublin, the gang took her passport and imprisoned her. When they imprisoned the women the gang members subjected the woman to “prolonged violence” and they were intending to force her into prostitution. This Romanian women contacted gardai after her escape from an apartment in North Great George’s street in Dublin city where she had been imprisoned for several days as well as beaten and raped. When she had gone to gardai, she had lumps of her hair torn from her head and was severely bruised. The three alleged leaders of the gang had done this terrible thing to many other people before. They would charge their victims high fees to get into Ireland and then they would extort most of the pay they made. Chinese gangs, mostly in Dublin, organize many of the prostitution that does occur in these areas. Many of the Chinese advertise the brothels as “message” parlors, which are causing difficulties for many legitimate professionals offering Chinese therapies.
I think that women need to be more carful about where they go and what they are promised. This woman from Romania was promised a cleaning job. Just because she was promised the job, it does not mean that she will actually be getting it. She was imprisoned, raped, and violently harmed because she did not take precaution when she went to Dublin for her job. If she had gone to the job with her father, brother, or another male that she trusted, I think that could have helped to avoid to situation that occurred.
