Our class has heard of Skype through our teacher and I had never heard of it before he mentioned it. As a new form of techno9logy you'd think that Skype would be in trouble because of the economy, right? Wrong, Skype is actually growing in numbers with new users and is advancing it's technology to help out the future users. The service Skype which is owned by eBay is getting a large amount of new users as people are looking for ways to cut their phone bills. Skype is downloadable software that allows a person to make free calls to other Skype users and it uses low cost calls to cell phones and land lines. Skype has been growing at a phenomenal rate and is helping globalization as we speak. Skype is expanding its market and developing better technology, even so far as heading towards the cell phone services. Skype 4.0 is going to drastically improve the sound and video quality for users.
I'm really glad that Skype has had such a good turn out. It still seems futuristic to me to be able to have a video chat conversation with someone that could be halfway around the world. This type of technology is really helping to expand out horizons and is a big part of globalization. Being able to transfer thoughts and ideas this quickly is going to have huge effects on globalization.

i love skype! i have two very good friends who live across the world! One is in Luxembourg and one is in Israel. I am able to talk to them weekly and see their faces because of skype. It is a great tool to keep in contact with people across the world.
