In a market in China called Xinyang, which is in Shanghai, they have pirated versions of all the newest technology including fake Apple iPhones, Bose speakers and even the newest not released bootleg versions of Microsoft Window's 7, the new operating system that everyone has been talking about. Not as confusing as Vista but way better than the 2004 version that a lot of non-vista users prefer to use because of the ease of the system. In a week this system is supposed to go on sale for about $2.39 each! This is a fraction of the price considering the full price is around $320. The software makers are facing a giant challenge with globalization and it's ever expanding reach. It's much easier to receive the information and sell it on the streets. eighty percent of the software in China that was sold was pirated. Families who work for the money from these products are having a harder time with security now that media is so easily transferable. The rest of the article talks about piracy issues and the recent numbers they have discovered.
I think it's really good that poor people will be able to get media that they can't afford so they can have an easier time bettering themselves so they can have opportunities nowadays, but I feel really bad for the people who put all their time and effort into these products just to have them sold to the lowest bidder. I want security to go up for these products but I'm not sure it's possible to fully secure these files.
