The Solar Flower Tower

The Solar Flower Tower is the latest technology to try and turn to more viable alternative energy sources. The tower is reported to maximize solar energy captured by the solar station. The tower is located in South Israel and is in the center of a field among 30 solar tracking mirrors and gathers the sunlight that is reflected directly off of them. The tower itself is a 30 foot structure. The energy from the sun is captured, raises the internal temperature, and a gas turbine generates electricity. The actual tower is made from recycled materials and could be constructed in a few days. The constructors of this model have anticipated a new and innovative way to bring forth energy that will not only reduce current dependency on oil within the area, but it will also provide some much needed art and color in the desert.

I believe this is a great tool towards alternative energy sources and sustainability. If this tower works in the Southern Israel area, hopefully, this will be a stepping stone to the researchers and governmental panels across the globe. The one thing this article failed to mention was the actual cost of the towers and how much it would cost to actually maintain this type of structure. Then, we would also have to consider training individuals who would be willing to train and learn how to operate and maintain these devices. We would also have to take into consideration placement and having to deal with tax -payers and their overall say-so and trying to get them on board if just in case one of these towers showed up in their backyard.
