The article starts off talking about exploitations that have occurred recently, one being by cartoonist Molly Norist “Everybody draw Muhammad day” and the other being by Pastor Terry Jones who wanted to burn copies of the Quran. Then the article addresses violence committed by certain Muslims in just the last couple of months, which included, In Pakistan, as Muslims during the final days of Ramadan, a suicide bomber struck killing some 44 people. Then there is comparison between the Quran and the Bible, and how they are similar in the belief about forgiveness. The article states, “It is a fact that forgiveness is emphasized in both the Bible and the Quran”. The article then goes on to say that, praying for forgiveness and appealing for forgiveness are both in the Bible and the Quran, so let everyone forgive and forget the negative acts committed by the ignorant few, Muslims and non-Muslims. The article ends by explaining ways to end this hatred, bias and bigotry. All religions teach the importance of patience, peace, forgiveness and harmony. We need to respect and cooperate with one and another, instead of fuelling hatred, ill-feelings and division. If we wish for our young children and grandchildren to live happily later on, we need to pave the way for love, forgiveness and peace right from now.
When reading this article, one idea that really struck me how willing Muslims are to create peace among all religions. The eagerness to follow what the Bible and Quran say, and create a peaceful future for later generations is a very good idea. The article didn’t show any signs of a bias, because there wasn’t any evidence of one religion being better or not doing as much harm and each religion was held responsible for some form of atrocity.
