Superbug in Taiwan

In Taiwan there is a new outbreak of the super bug NDM1. Scientists think that it originated in India, and instantly spread to fourteen other counties. Taiwan recently decided that it is a category four transmissible disease. Therefore, if any of the doctors or nurses suspects their patients have it, they immediately have to report them. If they do not report their suspicion it they could be fined up to fourteen thousand dollars. The biggest problem with the superbug is that it is unresponsive to antibodies. If they do not create an antibiotic that is effective, the disease will continue to spread and therefore spread to more countries. It has already been reported in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, and Japan.

This is very interesting case. This superbug is having a huge outbreak, and if nothing is done it will spread to all countries. I also find it interesting that the doctors can be fined thousands of dollars for not reporting it. It is a safety precaution, but I have to assume that with such a huge fine, this is a very intense problem. If an antibiotic is not created, it will spread all throughout the country, and all around the world. This article was written fairly well, but I would get confused because they used medical terms, that I do not think everyone would know. Other than the fact that the language is very hard to read, they explained that problem well.
