It is obvious that religion gives rise to divisions within society, ethnic groups, and cultures and even on a smaller scale families and friends. Religious apologists consistently respond with the defense that the fault is not with religion itself, but rather with its misinterpretation by man. Every religion around the world has its own view of who god is and what is to come later in life according to religious text. We must acknowledge that religion makes this an impossible task since the emotions found between rival religious groups are more intense than those between their secular counterparts. This is because religious inter-group emotions are more sensitive by false theological promises, such as redemption and everlasting life.
I chose this article because I was curious to understand how Christianity, of all the religions in the world is the reason behind so much religious division. All religions are troublesome. And not only troublesome among themselves with all the Christian, Muslim, Jewish sects fighting among one another but also with the other religions with "their “god” being the one true “god”, And when you think about it all the religions promise everlasting life. So in my opinion, placing the blame on one religion alone is crazy. I think that yes, the division does come from the fact that everyone believes in a certain interpretation but why should that be classified as a bad thing.

I believe Christianity could be responsible for some division, I come on, how many different denominations do we have in Christianity. In high school we touched base on religion in my sociology class, well me being a Southern Baptist, I had quite a few noses turn up at me while the class was having a little debate over the denominations and everything. But as far as Christianity being the cause of all the division or whatever, no. I agree in the fact that you said you can't really blame one religion, because you can't. Everyone has their own views and beliefs, and people are going to disagree, causing division. Division is also based on a lot more than just religion. Many factors including region, nationality or race are reasons for division aswell.
