There has been a deadly bombing of a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan on Friday afternoon. This is the second of two mosque bombings in Pakistan. Friday, the suicide bomber, to be specific, ran past the guards into the mosque where the explosion killed 50 and injured at least 80 members of an anti-Taliban peace committee. Tariq Afridi, a local Taliban chief of the area warned that if the Pakistani government was to be supported, there would be "results". Through harassing letters and calls, Afridi tried to dismantle to peace committee with no avail. This Friday marks a strong message to the supporters of the Pakistani government. The area is engulfed in militancy, however.

The previous bombings have targeted military convoys and other mosques. The dispute surrounding the Taliban and the Pakistani government persists, causing more friction that affects much of the population: the citizens, government, and peace committees. The violation of many of their rights, especially assembly, results. The Taliban’s vile presence interferes with the overall peace of the nation. The bombing by them severely interfered with even the practice of religion.

This resurgence entails the Taliban beginning to murder local leaders, intimidate the population, pose a risk to the security forces. They are also preventing development projects and threatening wider violence in the region. These threats and crimes are further oppressing the morale of the nation and continue to instill fear. Although the goal is political change in their favor, political change will be in the favor of the government and in a stronger, more stabilized way. Small scale bombings may cause temporary havoc, but hopefully will accomplish their ill intentions.
