Crime, Kaleem W., American charged with smuggling weapons into UK

What is the leading cause of homicides that our society faces today?  Gun violence in our communities is the number one cause of homicides worldwide.  The illegal sale and smuggling of weapons nationally and internationally has caused a significant increase in homicidal violence in the 21st century.  In international news, British authorities are conducting a criminal investigation on an American man, Steven Neal Greenoe, for illegally smuggling weapons into the UK.  Records show that Greenoe purchased “more than 60 firearms in North Carolina,” which he then cunningly smuggled into the UK on multiple occasions.  In the reports, Greenoe falsified U.S. government international arms regulation forms and licensing along with falsifying true evidence of working firearms, which he lied to TSA agents saying, “He was a salesman…and that the guns were broken down and not in working order.”  Although TSA checked his gun’s serial number, with national security at its all-time high in the United States, how does one smuggle illegal guns out of the U.S. multiple times without federal clearance or investigation?  Even though some of the weapons were recovered through Britain’s (TITAN) undercover police task force, there are still free roaming “high quality firearms” that pose a high risk to public safety.  With one of the weapons confiscated, “ballistics tests show [it was used] in a drive-by shooting in Manchester, England, in October 2010.”  This criminal action of being able to smuggle a high number of firearms has caught the attention of many agencies in England, as well as the United States.  Britain’s Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Leach, head of TITAN, is working with law enforcement agencies nationally and internationally to put a stop to such availability of firearms, which poses serious risk for potential terrorism and crime.
I believe this occurrence is the main reason why crime is high in the world.  Regulations on smuggling guns, drugs, and other illegal things need more attention and more enforcement.  For a single guy to infiltrate two governmental systems and smuggle weapons that cost over hundreds of thousands of dollars multiple times questions our safety from others following in his footsteps.  Although Greenoe was eventually flagged for his illegal actions, it happened far too late.
