This article was one that caught my attention because it dealt with Haiti which was something I already had interested in. Women in Haiti are being raped in the camps where people are living after the destruction of their homes from the earthquakes that. A 53 year old women who just lost her husband and her home had no choice but to move to the camp with her children. One night at ten, three mysterious men approached her. She described one of her attackers to be big, dirty and had a horrible stench to him. This women is one of hundreds who was raped in 1,150 camps that were spread throughout Haiti. Some of the victims are as young as three or five years old. Being raped is a bad enough problem but raping little girls is taking it to another level. I feel like there should have been more done to help prevent the rapes and sexual harassment. The Commission of Women Victims was there to help and try to get the women the justice they deserved. The Commission also tries to help them cope with their unfortunate situations by offering support groups. There is belief that these women need more than psychological help. The security and safety of the women and children need to be more of an priority. There has been more of an awareness about what is going there in Haiti. With more people knowing maybe there can be more done about it and the women can feel safer.
