Blog #3 Day 9 of unrest in Egypt
Civil unrest continues in egypt as supporters of Egyptian President, Hoani Mukarak began to lay siege to Tahrir square in which thousands of protesters have continued to demand the president step down. At this time three people have been killed and over six hundred people have been injured. The two sides have been throwing chunks of rocks and fire bombs at each other, also fighting hand to hand with sticks and iron bars. At this point it time the a call has been made to the army, which urged the protesters to return home that egypt might return to normal. The initial rioting started after the brutal death of Khaled Said, who was beaten to death when he refused to give two policemen money. Egypt is in horrible financial condition, earning and extremely low spot on the Economist's Democratic Index. Egypt is in a horrible economic situation, but do to American funding because of our interests in the middle east Egypt has an extremely well funded army. If the presidency it toppled and the regime along with their well paid military comes into power they will enforce their will with their superior weapons, all paid for with American money. One main reason for they uneven distribution of wealth in Egypt is the level of corruption present in the government, in fact the general public hardly sees even a fraction of a percentage of Egypt's revenue.
