This article was about a ring of sex traffickers that brought in victims from Russia to America. Their "business" in the sex trade industry was found all over the U.S.. According to this article, they also were planning to bring in girls from other countries as well. This ring of people has been trafficking victims since 2009. The process of investigation began in July of 2009 where the girls were asked to perform sex acts on an undercover detective. During that situation he was also requested to pay for the sex. Some of the traffickers listed in the article were also found to be using the Internet to traffic girls. They were using websites such as craigslist, saying they were looking for girls to work in massage services. These criminals are now facing charges and sentencing that according to the information in this article, is not listed.
This is an example of a global problem because it involves people being brought into the states from outside of it. Law officials are also working to fix the problem. I'm glad to see that these traffickers are being stopped. What I do not like about this case is it took them years to convict them. A key to identifying trafficking is awareness in any and every community. Spreading this information is imperative so people/law enforcement will know what to look for. If you are asking girls to perform sex acts for money, more than likely that is prostitution. I do however, understand how difficult it is to find all 12 of those traffickers. Traffickers are very intelligent at "running their business" and protecting their "investment". According to my personal studies, all law enforcement in North Carolina is being trained so they can become knowledgeable in working to end and prevent human trafficking.
