We’ve always been warned about the dangers online. Everyone has heard about myspace or chat rooms being used to prey on younger adolescents. Well, facebook has become the new popular place where pedophiles post and share images and videos of children being sexually assaulted. Unfortunately, not enough attention is being paid to these crimes. Sick people will take an assumed name and create a facebook page for themselves, and use the social network to find other sick people. To them, images and videos of children forced to engage in sexual acts are like currency and ones that haven’t been seen before are gold. Some will write captions like “She is one of my best lilmodels! Now she is 10 yo, but she began to do sex since 2 ys!” For now not much is being done, a small group has contacted Facebook, the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children but also have decided to track the users posting images.
Somehow I thought Facebook was safer then chat rooms and myspace but I guess I was wrong. There are so many people in different parts of the world that use facebook, anyone could become a victum. And the fact that pedophiles are able to make some kind of community with each other is just sick. Like, “hey! You in Germany like watching toddlers forced to have sex? Well, me and my buddy Hank in Florida feel the same way. Let’s become friends.” Since they now have a way to connect and share, there will be more demand for their child porn.
