This article was found on a radio website in Atlanta, Georgia. Brock Nicholson of ICE- Immigration and Customs Enforcement, discussed the increase of victims of international human trafficking being brought into Atlanta. The U.S. State Department said about 12 million people are victims of international human trafficking. This statistic also includes child sex trafficking, which is becoming a large problem in the Atlanta area. One of the cases discussed in the article is about the victims from Mexico. This case involved 13 girls, ranging from 14 and older. They were tricked by the trafficker into coming to Atlanta because he said he would be their boyfriend. When they arrived to Atlanta, they were quickly forced into prostitution. Some places that officials have begun looking for victims is in strip clubs or massage parlors. These investigations mostly include Eastern European Women. According to this article, investigators are also finding a common trend of men creating brothels within neighborhoods. Using this technique allows traffickers to attract less attention. One of the main reasons Atlanta is becoming a trafficking hub is due to their international airport. Although Atlanta is a highly populated city, it also has many surrounding rural areas. These areas are also easy for traffickers to hide their victims. This article also goes into how to re-act to something if its seems out of the ordinary. Since awareness is crucial in identifying human trafficking, the Public Broadcasting of Atlanta aired this to inform the public of child sex trafficking.

Although this is article is about Atlanta, it is a global problem. It is a global problem because it deals with people being brought into America. It discusses victims coming from Mexico and European countries. I was pleased to see a city going to great lengths to help the city become aware of this awful crime. Human trafficking is so difficult to identify as well as find the traffickers, especially if no one knows how to identify them. Another reason this is a global problem is because a group of people are working to solve the problem. It probably won't be resolved anytime soon, but its a great start.

I really never realized how common trafficking occurs and whats scarier that it happens in our country. I think they need to make more of an effort to inform women and children that it can happen anywhere and how to avoid it.
