Man knifed to death and 14-year old boy shot in leg in South London 2/11/11 Kyerre Hawkins

This article was another sad story about crime dealing with teenagers. The rest of this crime ended with a teenager dying and another stabbed as mentioned in the title of this article. This unfortunate event started off as a 18-year-old woman's birthday party. It was a birthday that went wrong just like a lot of parties that are held in general. The party was held at Dulwhich Hamlet Football Club. Before 18-year-old Daniel Thompson-Graham was stabbed a witness said that he was chased down by about 15 young men. These men attacked him near the Grove Vale Library. According to witnesses a fight broke out at the party and about 70 young men were kicked out after it. After police found Thompson-Graham and took him to the hospital were he was pronounced dead two hours later, a 14-year-old came to the hospital with a gunshot wound apparently from the same event. There was no clear reason why or how the fight broke out or why the gang of men killed Thompson-Graham. A few teenagers have been killed in London over the past month. Thompson-Graham is reported to be the fourth teenage death.

Once again the question is why are these crimes being committed? Why are our teenagers resulting to violence when there is a problem? Why can't teenagers have a safe and fun birthday party without problems? I have been to a couple of parties myself and know how quickly things can spiral out of control especially over misunderstandings. As I have mentioned in previous blog post many factors play a role in why people do what they do. In this article, it says that everyone that bought a drink was checked before they purchased anything. This makes me think that some of these young people were intoxicated and knowing that being in this state can alter how you think leads me to think this has something to do with their violent acts. They cant be excused because of their intake of alcohol because it was their choice to consume it. Everyone has to be held accountable for their decisions.
