One hundred years ago, who would have ever thought we could have a small device that allowed us to call, text, and email. Technology is advancing everyday but some people are questioning if whether or not it has gone and or is going too far. Not only is there a question of has it gone too far, but there is also a question of whose fault it is for going too far. Is it the companies who create the gadgets faults or is it the consumer’s fault for demanding it? Of course the consumer is going to blame the company and the company is going to blame the consumer but either way people are getting careless and rude with their devices. In current news, the company who is getting the most heat is Intel because they make the chips for the phones that everybody enjoys using. “Rude behavior, according to Intel, includes texting or typing when driving, which is illegal, sending emails while walking, which is ridiculous, and using a mobile device on a honeymoon, which is tragic.” So how does society fix these issues? People should take a step back from the gadgets and try to have an actual face to face conversation with a person. As for whose problem it is, it would have to be both. It is the consumers fault for never being satisfied with what they have and it is the companies’ faults for giving into the consumer as if they were a parent giving into an annoying child begging and whining for a toy. Yes, cell phones and email have become a necessity, but maybe there should be more appropriate time to use these services instead of every minute of the day.

Technology is going to continue to advance because it sells. We're going to keep buying it because it is convienent. All we can do is use public service announcements about the dangers of technology like texting and driving, but that's just how the world is today. Hopefully more parents encourage reading and playing outside for their kids rather than video games or wait to give their kids cell phones when they're old enough for one.
