Polio Strain Spreads to China
Polio or infantile paralysis is a very easily transferred viral infectious disease that spreads from human to human through the fecal oral route. This happens in cases where prepared food or drinks have been contaminated meaningfully or unintentionally. A large percent of the infections cause no symptoms at all but the ones that do become affected exhibit a wide range of symptoms if it enters the blood stream. When it reaches the central nervous system it begins to show signs that it has infected and destroying motor neurons ultimately leading to muscle weakness paralysis. Just in the past few days’ polio has been reported in China for the first time since 1999. The World Health Organization WHO confirmed that they found tracks of it that were genetically linked to a type that was circulating in Pakistan. Seven cases have been confirmed in the Xinjiang province, which borders Pakistan. With such a risky virus going around the researchers that discovered the reoccurrence had to let the public know to take precautions because of the high risk crippling disease that could move further out and about affecting more then it should before put to a dead stop. The Chinese authorities are now investigating the cases, getting donations by UNICEF and starting a mass vaccination campaign that was launched for the regions security. A WHO spokesman reported that all the right actions to take in this scare were chosen and it would soon be back under control.
