‘Rape Case is a Rarity in Chinese Justice System’
A female teacher in a middle school located in the Chinese province of Guizhou was raped by one of the more powerful land and resource officials in the area. At a luncheon for legal-awareness given for a group of authorities, including the principal of the school where the woman taught, Wang Zhonggui took advantage of a very intoxicated woman. The principal had suggested that she go around to all the officials to toast them and share a shot of strong Chinese liquor with them. After 14-15 shots, the woman was offered a ride home from Mr. Wang and the school’s vice principal. When she went to the bathroom to throw up, Wang tried to follow her in. He eventually forced his way in and dragged her out, and leaving her to wake up alone, with out clothes, on the floor of the room. In an effort to keep things hush-hush, many of the police officers she reported to told her to forget it had even happened and even told her boyfriend to leave her and find another girlfriend. Only after she published her account online and in the local paper was action taken to punish Wang.
I believe this is a serious social problem that demands the attention of people all over. Not only is this an issue with women’s rights, but this also is a problem within the justice system in China. The fact that this woman was told “If he was wearing a condom, it wasn’t rape,” or, to try and forget that it even happened is a crime against her own rights. Her body, her spiritual being, her rights as a human being, were all violated and nothing was being done to stop the man who did it. Even now, after he has been taken into custody, there is no promise that he will be sentenced to serve time. You know there is a corrupt system when the government does not hold the same laws for its employees as it does for its people. To be taken advantage of, and have no control over what is happening to your body is a traumatizing event, especially for a woman.

Rape cases are rare in china but can still happen in the wrong situation. This topic should be stopped completely and punish anyone that commits such an act.
