Blog #5 Women Gain Voting Rights

The United Nations has been wanting for countries to prosper for years now.  To achieve this ultimately would mean that women have more equality because in many countries this is still not the case.  It is hard to come out on top when you have only half the populations input.  Saudia Arabia just took a big step in the right direction to equality by giving women voting rights.  Women will also be able to run in the elections to hold positions of power.  Although this will not occur until 2015 it will greatly impact the country and get all of the population of adults involved.
Due to religious beliefs and government control women have not had any power.  This happens still all over the world.  Of course everyone is entitled to their own belief systems, but in order for countries to grow and become more industrialized it will take the work of all their people.  The next obstacle the Arabian women are fighting for is the right to drive and for both sexes to be able to be in public together.   Although this may not occur till years down the road, it is encouraging to see that women are slowly gaining equality around the world.  The right to vote is a huge deal, just as we can see in America’s history.  All countries will hopefully learn from this and be able to make drastic choices in their governments.
