The 88th precinct of Brooklyn New York has had several robberies reported from September 4th- September 11th. They made an arrest this past week due to three armed robberies around Fort Greene Park. 49 year old Gary McCray was arrested on September 10 for allegedly committing three armed robberies. It was shocking because after his arrest was made a similar robbery occurred the following day. In both robberies that were committed the suspect held people at gunpoint and stole cash and jewelry from the victims. Mr. McCray is being charged with first, second, and third degree robbery. There was another robbery that took place around Fort Greene Park, but Mr. McCray has not been positively identified for that specific robbery yet. On September 6 around 9:30 p.m. a 30 year-old woman was robbed just outside of Fort Greene Park, when a man approached her caring a gun and stole her gold necklace and wedding ring. Another incident occurred September 5, 2011 when a 22 year old woman and two friends were robbed in Fort Greene Park. A man approached them caring a large silver gun and made them put their money and items in a bag and the suspect said if they didn’t he would cause them harm. One of the victims called the police and filed a police report the next day at the 84th Precinct. With so many of these robberies occurring in Fort Greene Park back to back, the police need to take extra precaution around innocent bystanders and they need to add more security.
