It has been two days since a man and a woman were hung from a bridge in the border city of Nuevo Laredo. The man, 25 years old, was hanging by his hands and his right shoulder was severed so deeply that the bone was visible. The woman, 28 years of age, was hogtied and disemboweled. She was also topless. Messages were left along with the bodies mentioning two blogs and threats towards social media users, demanding the stop of drug –related reports. Gangbangers regularly hang people from bridges and highway overpasses. There have been threats in the past towards bloggers who specialize in news about trafficking and a security analyst, named Ana Maria Salazar, stated that it is not uncommon for murder victims to go unidentified in Mexico. Just by being at the crime scene, investigators are at risk. Therefore they have limited time to investigate and some evidence may go unhandled. Last year two officials were found dead two days after investigating a massacre in San Fernando, Tamaulipas. The director of the Acapulco morgue, Keynes Garcia Leguizamo, stated: "Tattoos are very important for us as well as specific body features. I'm saying this because earlier this year we had to process body parts that appeared inside four plastic bags and that's how we were able to establish identity".
It is amazing how one person’s beliefs can jeopardize the lives of other people. The use of social networks was not made to cause harm to anyone. This type of hatred towards people that use different social networks is very unnecessary and the things that they are doing to these people are very inhumane. I was surprised when I read that these kinds of murders weren’t uncommon in Mexico. This whole drug cartel and gang related activity is completely out of control. It is definitely a big problem when the authorities are afraid or in danger of the criminals.
