Blog Post 6: Nobel Peace Prize Awarded to Three Activist Women

The article is about three women who have won the Nobel Peace Prize this year. The three women are Leymah Gbowee, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Tawakul Karman. A Norwegian prime minister stated that this further shows the world how much attention and focus they have on women’s rights. They want to show their support for equal opportunities for women and men. It then goes on to tell about people’s views of the winner. How most women view this as a step for all women for the future. All three recipients receive good statements about their movements and campaigns. In the end, it is telling about how you never who they pick as a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

The social problem with this is that not many women receive an honor for the work that they have done in their countries. Also, that there may have been plenty of women before these recipients who have been achieving this same goal and not getting the recognition they deserve. This award seems to be an award for all these women; they are celebrating together because it is progress for them all. It goes to show how things are changing in the world, men are noticing that women are making and putting things into action. Women everywhere see and realize that their goals do not go unnoticed and to keep pushing forward because change and attention will come to them as it has for these three recipients. These women winning this award seems to be empowering women everywhere to not give up on their dreams as well as bonding the world and all women together because of a common goal.
