Blog Post #12: Taliban Strikes Again

Two Taliban suicide bombers took to the streets of Afghanistan this week as Muslims were exiting a mosque during the Feast of Sacrifice Festival. Seven were killed, including 2 local police officers, and 18 others injured. Of the two bombers, one completed his mission while the other was captured before he could engage his explosives. The number of civilians dying in this area as a result of Taliban terror has continued to rise, causing much concern about the Afghan force’s ability to protect its people without the help of NATO – whose plan is to hand full security over by the end of 2014. NATO also reported that two of its own service members were killed within the past week, which brings the total number of coalition deaths alone to 495 this year.

Countries that have been targeted by Taliban assaults include Afghanistan, Kabul, Pakistan, The United States, Iran, and India. The Taliban’s far-reaching effects have paralyzed many countries with fear following attacks, threats, and suicide bombings. NATO has been engaged in a decade long war versus the Taliban – whose attacks continue to increase. While Taliban leader Mullah Omar claims that his fighters must protect innocent civilians, this statement does not reflect historical massacres that have involved citizens on almost every occurrence.

The Taliban's leader argument of trying to protect innocent civilians is a hoax because if he was really for the protection of citizens than the bombing would not be happening. I mean how can you not know that bombings kill mass amounts of people? Terrorism has to stop! there is so much violence and its not even helping the cause that they may be trying to let be known. Lots of the time it is because a specific group is trying to stop the discrimination and then takes it to a level of killing when really, if we as people understand each other and embrace other races and religions we will eliminate a LOT of war.

I agree with Jasma he is not really trying to protect anyone. And if they want to get rid of the problem with the Taliban then they need to first get rid of the main leader, that needs to be their first goal. Until then the terrorism will probably never stop because they are going to continue to keep doing the same things and cause even more war.

I agree with what Jasma and Tiffany said. If these people know who the master mind behind all of these catastrophic events is then there needs to be someone to go and stop them. There is no reason why terrorism's numbers are rising. Something has to be done to protect innocent people immediately.
